Hair dryers have come a long way from simply blowing hot air at your hair. With beauty tech becoming increasingly focused on the health of our hair and scalp, even this everyday styling tool is getting a rethink.
Panasonic’s new nanoe™ Hair Dryer EH-NB70 falls into this new generation of hair dryers, combining powerful airflow with technology designed to care for your scalp and hair.
We put it to the test to see what it’s really like to use – here’s what caught our attention.
More Than Just A Hair Dryer: The Panasonic EH-NB70
When we think of hair care, shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatments might come to mind first. But Panasonic is taking a different approach by incorporating scalp care into an everyday styling tool.

At first glance, the EH-NB70 looks like a compact hair dryer, but it has a few features that set it apart from the usual models.
For one, it’s designed with scalp care in mind, rather than focusing solely on drying and styling. It also comes with six modes for different needs, from getting your hair dry after a shower to giving your scalp and hair ends a little extra attention.
Despite these added features, the dryer weighs just 480g. I found it light and easy to handle while drying my hair, which made the process more comfortable.
nanoe™ MOISTURE+ : For A Healthier Scalp And Smoother Hair
The EH-NB70’s biggest point of difference is its focus on scalp care – something we don’t usually associate with hair dryers.
It uses Panasonic’s nanoe™ MOISTURE+ technology alongside minerals and negative ions to help moisturise the scalp and hair, generating 18 times more moisture-packed particles than conventional nanoe™ technology.
The idea is to help address scalp dryness, which can contribute to concerns such as itchiness and dandruff, while keeping hair feeling smoother and looking shinier. The technology is also designed to help protect colour-treated hair by reducing colour leakage.
It’s an interesting approach to everyday hair care, especially if you’re already spending time drying your hair and would like to give your scalp and strands a little extra attention along the way.
Six Modes To Suit Different Hair Needs
The EH-NB70 comes with six modes designed to suit different hair-care needs, from everyday drying to styling and extra care for your scalp and skin. Here’s what each one does:
- Hot mode: Delivers warm airflow for quick, everyday drying, particularly after towel-drying your hair.
- Cold mode: Provides a cool finishing touch to help set your hairstyle after styling.
- Hot & Cold Alternating mode: Alternates between warm and cool airflow to help create smoother, shinier-looking hair.
- Scalp Care mode: Gently dries the scalp at around 60°C, helping to provide comfortable care without excessive heat.
- Hair Tip Care mode: Gently dries the ends of your hair to support healthier-looking lengths.
- Skin Care mode: Designed to hydrate the skin after a shower. Hold the dryer around 20cm from your face and move it from side to side for approximately one minute.
From everyday drying to more targeted scalp and hair-tip care, the modes offer more flexibility than simply switching between hot and cold air.
Fast Drying In A Compact Design
Having extra features is great, but a hair dryer still needs to dry your hair efficiently.
The EH-NB70 uses a high-speed motor that spins at 107,000rpm to deliver powerful airflow for faster drying, so you can spend less time blow-drying your hair and more time getting ready.
It also adjusts its air temperature according to the surrounding environment to help prevent excessive heat exposure. Combined with its compact 480g design, these features are intended to make everyday drying both efficient and comfortable.
Putting The EH-NB70 To The Test

My usual routine involves either using another hair dryer or letting my hair air-dry, depending on how much time I have.
With the EH-NB70, I noticed that my thick hair dried noticeably faster, and it felt soft and smooth afterwards. I also found the dryer light and easy to handle.

I was particularly curious about the Skin Care mode because I often find that my skin feels dry after blow-drying my hair. After all, how often do you come across a hair dryer with a mode dedicated to skin care? It’s an unexpected addition that sets the EH-NB70 apart from your typical hair dryer.
I also liked having dedicated Scalp Care and Hair Tip Care modes, which offer alternatives to directing hot air across the entire head. Together with the Hot & Cold Alternating mode, they make the dryer feel more versatile for different parts of my routine.
Final Thoughts: Is It Really More Than Just A Hair Dryer?
So, is the Panasonic nanoe™ Hair Dryer EH-NB70 worth considering? If you’re looking for a hair dryer that does more than simply get the job done, it makes a compelling case.
I especially appreciated how quickly it dried my thick hair, leaving it feeling soft and smooth without the dryer feeling cumbersome to use. Its focus on scalp care also makes it an interesting option for anyone who wants to be more mindful of their scalp health, while the Skin Care mode adds an unexpected beauty-tech twist.
Ultimately, the EH-NB70 offers a fresh take on an everyday beauty essential, bringing hair and scalp care into a step of our routines that we might otherwise overlook.
