The beauty world isn’t new to sexual innuendos. Think the famous NARS blush in a shade that’s named Orgasm, Urban Decay’s iconic Naked palettes, and the many sensual advertisements for perfumes.
But even with our exposure to erotic references in the industry, this was the first time a beauty product literally made us gag… sorry, perhaps we should avoid using this word in this case.
British makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench has launched the third collection for her namesake beauty brand. Called LIPS, this collection features lipsticks that are housed in huge metallic penises that look quite anatomically accurate.
Yes, this is not a joke.
The audacious launch, according to Ffrench, came to her “in a dream”. She didn’t mention what kind.
These phallic lipsticks are made of zinc alloy and are heavier than your usual lipstick – at almost 300g.
Ffrench has intended for her makeup products to double as art objects. Just like the majestic horse-shaped mascara she has launched previously, the penis-shaped lipstick can be placed on the shelf along with other sculptures and keepsakes for display.
The collection consists of two lipsticks: Water Balm, which is in black gunmetal that carries a black shimmer shade and Colour Infusion Lipstick, in silver chrome metal that houses a red satin shade.
Colour Balm has a water-like finish and features light-reflecting pearls, while Colour Infusion Lipstick has an intense colour payoff and delivers a saturated colour with a single stroke.
The lipsticks are currently out of stock. but we have a question: if you managed to get your hands on one, would you dare use it in public?
Isamaya Beauty LIPS lipsticks retail for US$95 each and are available on the brand’s website. They are both currently sold out.
