Best known for their base products and their highlighters, Becca Cosmetics is definitely a brand not to be missed by anybody who is exploring the world of makeup. Stepping into the largest Sephora store in Singapore at ION Orchard, you’ll see Becca parked right at the entrance with all their latest and best-selling products.

To ease your exploration into the brand, we have done some extensive research and asked around for the best products from Becca Cosmetics to try. Here are some items you should definitely check out the next time you visit Sephora. You’re welcome!

1. First Light Priming Filter

Why people love it: One of Becca’s newest products on the shelf, the First Light Priming Filter is a highly raved product by many beauty vloggers, including Kathleen Lights. Kathleen mentioned in her January favourites that this primer gives her the glow as well as the hydration she required as someone with dry skin. Some consumers have mentioned on Sephora (US) that it feels light on the skin and worked as close as a moisturiser, while others love to use it because of the wakening effect due to its citrusy smell.

How to use: Before your foundation, apply it on to your entire face for that glow and dewy look.

Why people love it: If you’re not a fan of the citrusy smell of the First Light Priming Filter, then the Backlight Priming Filter may just be the right primer for you. This is a primer that helps to smooth out your skin texture and gives you the “lit-from-within” look! In addition, it helps to extend the longevity of your makeup, and many who have tried said that you could do without a highlighter with this primer.

How to use: Use under a foundation or alone. Apply it on your T-zone or your entire face for different effects.

Why people love it: Living in one of the busiest city states in the world, most Singaporeans definitely suffer from dark eye circles due to long hours of work, along with juggling with social life. This concealer is well-loved for its ability to cover dark circles, as it colour-corrects bluish veins and brighten the eye area, making it looking brighter without being too “fake”.

How to use: Apply a thin layer of this creamy goodness on the under eye area before foundation, and use concealer in the same area thereafter. Set it with powder to prevent any possibility of creasing.

Why people love it: Despite being a foundation, the Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme is lightweight and provide a decent amount of coverage at the same time. It gives a natural matte finish but does not appear to be cakey. A thin layer of the foundation is sufficient to cover imperfections, as well as redness of the skin. It is also super long-wearing with minimal oxidation.

How to use: This foundation is best used with the One Perfecting Brush (sold separately). Simply pump the foundation over the bristles of the brush and work it into your skin from your forehead to the chin, as well as the perimeter of your face. Otherwise, pump the foundation once at the back of your hand then use your finger to dab it all over your face. Simply use a beauty blender or any other makeup sponge to blend it over your entire face. You can also build coverage by layering where necessary.

5. Blotting Powder Perfector – Translucent

Why people love it: This powder is a must-have for those with combination or oily skin. Many have raved about how it helps to keep oily skin at bay for a considerable long period of time while not disturbing the makeup or becoming cakey. It does not leave a white cast upon application and mattifies makeup beautifully.

How to use: After foundation, simply apply to set your makeup. You can also use it throughout the day to mattify your makeup for a less dewy look. If you own many glossy and shiny lippies, this can transform them into a matte look when you dust over it your glosses.

6. The One Perfecting Brush

Why people love it: The bristles of the brushes are super soft and are enhanced with shed-resistance technology so you can keep it for a longer time. The brush leaves base products with a flawless finish while some others loved it for the ease of contouring and highlighting of their face.

Bonus point: There is a limited edition rose gold version of the brush selling at the same price!

How to use: This patent-pending brush is a multi-tasker that you can use to replace almost all of your makeup brushes!

  • Foundation: Simply pump the foundation on the brush and use the broad side to make the magic work. Sweep it from your forehead all the way down to your chin, and vertically down the nose with the narrow base to complete this step.
  • Contour: Use the narrow surface of the brush under the cheekbones, down sides of nose then around the temples.
  • Highlight: Use the narrow surface of the brush on the high points of your face.

On top of the ease of application and how blend-able the product is, many raved about how beautiful the shades are, especially guava and watermelon.

Do not belittle this small tube! As the pigment is super concentrated, a little product goes a long long way. Upon application, it gives a subtle and natural looking flush without looking OTT.

The blush is super pigmented, thus little product is needed for every application. It is said to be able to last a whole day even on people with oily skin. Also, being a mineral blush, it reduces the possibility of breaking out.

9. Highlight/Lowlight Palette Pressed

Why people love it: Contouring and strobing fans, this is the perfect product for you! It helps to contours the face naturally without being too warm or reddish. The highlighter is build-able for a more intense glow.

How to use: To contour, apply the Lowlight with a brush and write a “3”. Start from the centre of your forehead then moving down to the middle of the ear, following the hollow of your cheek. Sweep back to the ear and continue down along your jaw line. Blend it well for a natural contour look.
