Did you know that your lips are mainly made of fats and proteins – and that saliva contains specific enzymes meant to break them down? That’s right, this is why you should resist the urge to lick your lips when they feel dry; saliva actually causes your lips to flake even more!

Instead, reach out for a trusty stick of lip balm to help soothe those chapped lips. Now, there are more choices than ever, with lip balms specially designed to brighten up duller lips (we’ve previously done a whole article tinted lip balms!), dry lips, and super-sensitive lips!

Go on, dig into our list of 18 lip balms for every lip concern you may have, so you no longer have any excuse NOT to reach out for a tube!

1. Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1

Best Lip Balm Kiehls

Great for: Dry lips

This is a long-time cult favourite that many people swear is the answer to dry, parched lips. It comes in a few different scents now but our all-time fave has to be the classic unscented one as it will not contain potential skin irritants in fragrances.

What’s most attractive about this balm is its quick-absorbing formula that is long-lasting and not sticky. It has been carefully formulated for maximum hydration and efficacy with ingredients like squalane, a botanical lipid that is molecularly similar to the natural lipids in our skin and hence is absorbed rapidly; aloe vera for its skin-soothing properties; and Vitamin E to help neutralise skin-damaging free-radicals. This little unassuming tube of goodness certainly deserves a spot in your drawer!

Available from Kiehl’s at SGD17.
