Ever feel like your skin throws a curveball every other week?

One minute, it’s radiant and glowing, and the next, it’s an irritated tomato. Right before our time of the month, our complexion can turn greasy and pimply too. And for others, fine lines can start looking more prominent with age and in arid environments.

We seek targeted solutions for our most pressing concerns, and Bioderma’s here to help with its troubleshooting serum range. To find out if they truly deliver on their benefits, I enlisted the help of two other Daily Vanity team members, each of us with different skin concerns.

Let’s see how Kristen tackled fine lines and dehydration with the Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum, Swee Qi balanced her skin with the Sebium Serum, and I, after damaging my skin barrier (again), found solace (again) in the Sensibio Defensive Serum.

Pssst! Keep reading because you can try these serums at an exclusive skincare and makeup masterclass! More details below.

Kristen Tries Bioderma Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum

Bioderma Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum

My skin is very dehydrated because of the extended time spent in air-conditioned environments. This causes my skin to feel “tight” and uncomfortable; at the same time, fine lines become more visible, especially around my forehead. My skin also looks dull and tired without makeup.

Rich moisturisers manage to improve my skin’s hydration, but they tend to feel very oily and they don’t feel very comfortable, especially in Singapore’s weather or when my skin is producing more oil nearing that time of the month.

Brightening and anti-ageing serums can give my skin a general glow over time, but they don’t help with that “tight” feeling and do nothing to fix the fine lines on my wrinkles.

I was happy to see that the serum is lightweight and refreshing – perfect for our hot and humid weather. It’s very easy to apply and absorbs super quickly. I could seriously feel my dehydrated skin drinking up the serum and feeling more moisturised instantly.

There’s also a very mild scent that’s very comfortable, making it a treat to use.

My skin felt instantly hydrated, and fine lines caused by dehydration were less visible. My skin felt fresh and looked plump. The product also agrees very well with my moisturiser and makeup. In fact, I feel that my makeup was able to go on more smoothly than before after using the Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum!

I used to wake up with skin that feels dry and tight in the morning, but since using the serum, I no longer have this problem. With stronger, more hydrated skin, my skin also looks brighter, and my fine lines are less noticeable. My skin feels supple and healthier than before.

The Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum has a superior texture compared to other hydrating serums I’ve used in the past. I like that it’s refreshing and lightweight, and leaves my skin feeling velvety soft and quenched. This is certainly the most effective serum I’ve tried for my specific skin concerns!

Swee Qi Tries Bioderma Sebium Serum

In the past, my blemish-prone had a profound impact on my self-esteem and confidence. I couldn’t even step out of the house without some form of coverage to hide my skin imperfections.

Simple social situations, like staying overnight at a friend’s house or attending school camp, filled me with anxiety because I dreaded revealing my real skin to others. Often, I’d find myself coming up with excuses to avoid these situations altogether.

To treat my acne-prone skin, I’ve experimented with various skincare products, ranging from salicylic acid-infused face washes to serums, masks, and even benzoyl peroxide and zinc oxide creams.

Most of them were effective for only a while and then stopped working, so I wanted to see what Bioderma’s Sebium Serum could do for my skin.

The lime green packaging is super eye-catching, reminding me of something refreshing, like cucumbers soaking in cool water. Its compact size makes it perfect for travel, slipping easily into any suitcase or carry-on.

I was amazed by its feather-light texture that absorbed into my skin in a flash, leaving behind a smooth, non-greasy finish. With just a few drops, I could cover my entire face and neck.

It bears a fresh aquatic scent that’s quite mild and dissipates within seconds of application, so it doesn’t linger for long.

Immediately after applying it, my skin felt balanced and nourished, without any tightness or discomfort. It has a nice cooling sensation that feels really soothing. I like how it melts into my skin without feeling tacky and gives it a smooth, matte finish.

My skin feels more balanced, and I’ve noticed a significant reduction in my pimples. They also don’t look as angry anymore – the redness and inflammation have calmed down a lot.

But it’s not just about treating existing breakouts. My pores feel less congested, which means hopefully fewer breakouts in the future. Some of those stubborn acne scars that have been hanging around for ages seemed to be lighter now. I use it every night, and my skin looks less shiny the next morning.

The Sebium Serum delivered quicker results than other serums I’ve tried. Even with salicylic acid, a common ingredient known for being drying, this serum surprised me by leaving my skin feeling comfortable. Unlike past experiences, daily use wasn’t an issue.

Overall, it’s the most effective serum I’ve tried so far for tackling pimples and acne scars.

Jade Tries Bioderma Sensibio Defensive Serum

Bioderma Sensibio Defensive Serum review

As someone with perpetually sensitive, eczema-prone skin that throws a hormonal blemish party every now and then, finding the right skincare balance can feel like navigating a minefield.

You might remember my previous love letter to Bioderma’s Sensibio Defensive Serum. It arrived like a knight in shining armour after a potent vitamin C serum left my skin red and irritated.

Well, fast-forward to a recent (ill-advised) retinol experiment, and my skin was once again screaming for help – cue the familiar, comforting white serum bottle!

Bioderma Sensibio Defensive: First Impressions

The Sensibio Defensive Serum hasn’t lost its touch. The lightweight, oil-in-water emulsion is a dream – nourishing yet weightless, it sinks effortlessly into my skin. I love that there’s no fragrance to irritate my already sensitive skin and nose.

After just one application, my skin felt significantly less tight, and the redness seemed to simmer down a notch. It was like a cool glass of water for my parched, irritated face, sinking in effortlessly without a trace of greasiness or that dreaded sticky feeling.

Two weeks in, and the Sensibio Defensive Serum is continuing its good work. My skin no longer feels like it’s constantly on edge, the tightness has subsided, and it feels comfortably nourished. There’s a noticeable plumpness, and the overall texture feels smoother to the touch.

The angry red patches on my forehead and cheeks have softened significantly, too. Bonus points: the hormonal blemishes around my jawline are healing nicely with minimal scarring.Bioderma Sensibio Defensive Serum review jade before after 2

And here’s the science bit that truly resonates with me: Bioderma’s Defensive Technology. It acknowledges that sensitivity can be both inherent and triggered by external aggressors.

The serum tackles this by addressing the root causes of sensitivity, preventing reactivity, oxidative stress, and the breakdown of my skin’s natural barrier – all culprits in my previous skincare mishaps.

Simply put, the Sensibio Defensive Serum acts as a shield, protecting my skin while actively promoting its health. It’s a true testament to targeted skincare and a reminder that, sometimes, revisiting a past favourite is the best course of action.

If you have sensitive, easily-triggered skin, I highly recommend giving this hero serum a try.
