That’s exactly what TikTok user Aliyah (@aliyahwears on TikTok) did when she got into a car accident.
She turned adversity into opportunity and took this chance to test out different concealers, rating them on a scale of one to 10, based on how well they could cover her black eye.

A beauty tips and tutorials Instagram account (@makeupxlooks on Instagram) shared her video and it went viral, garnering over 46 million views and 15k comments.
The comments section of the Instagram post was flooded with comments showing concern over how she got her black eye—a large majority assuming she was a victim of domestic violence.
What started out as a timely opportunity to put her concealers’ coverage to the test opened up a discussion to the rising problem of domestic abuse, one that most victims choose to conceal.
While informative reviews like Aliyah’s TikToks can be helpful in identifying the most effective product, it is also a double-edged sword that can encourage victims of domestic violence to cover up their abuse, rather than seek help.
With the myriad of resources like this available on the internet these days, it’s easy to take the simple way out, rather than confronting the problem head-on. We urge victims of domestic violence to speak up, instead of turning to cosmetics to hide the problem.
Aliyah did a three-part review on her TikTok, following up her original video by testing out the concealers TikTok users had requested for. She also rated concealers from drugstore brands for a more comprehensive review.

This concealer first made its appearance in her original TikTok, where it scored the highest amongst three other concealers she reviewed in that video.
Its high coverage was exceptionally apparent when compared to the concealers she had tested before it.

She claims that it feels lighter than IT Cosmetics’ concealer, while also having a more matte finish. This will be a good option for those who prefer their concealers to have an airbrushed effect.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible More Than Concealer

In part three of her TikTok review, she tested out several drugstore concealers, and L’Oreal’s concealer fared the best of the bunch.
At a whopping 9.5, it scored even higher than its pricier counterparts from high-end makeup brands. This option has the most value for money, perfect for those on a budget.

The NARS concealer was also featured in her last TikTok, where she compared it to Haus Labs and drugstore brands like e.l.f., Maybelline and L’Oreal.
Although it has slightly less coverage than the L’Oreal concealer, she notes that the product offers quite a bit of coverage, nonetheless.

While it did not impress her as much as IT Cosmetics’ concealer did, it deserves due credit for covering up more of her bruise than its predecessors did.
