Exclusivity and gorgeous backdrops for the ‘gram: these are two things I’m quite certain will make any millennial happy.
While most salons would vie for a prominent spot that enjoys a huge amount of footfall, the newly opened Chez Vous: HideAway goes the other way.

The new concept salon may be located at the highly accessible Ngee Ann City, it is hidden away among the office units. If you ask me, it’s probably one of the most unlikely spots for a salon I could think of.
But this is not the only thing that makes the salon feel rather exclusive. At this strictly-by-appointment-only salon, stylists only take up to five appointments per day. This policy allows stylists to have time to pay ample attention to every guest that walks through their doors.
This is the main area in the salon where you get your hair services done.
This was something that I noticed and appreciated when I visited Chez Vous HideAway. My stylist didn’t make me feel like he was rushing to attending to other guests and was able to patiently do a consultation with me.
A special room for VIPs that is also every bit Instagrammable.
And if you ask me, the vibe that Chez Vous HideAway gives off is less like a salon and more like a spa – what with massage chairs, a menu of signature herbal tea and spa snacks, and an overall relaxing ambience.
In fact, each guest would be treated to a bespoke Aromatherapy Journey with every appointment. You select an essential oil blend at the start of the session, which blend will accompany you through each step of your hair service, from the shampoo to the shoulder massage.

Once I push through a life-sized framed painting (which is actually a door that separates the reception area with the salon), I was greeted by the Re:Charge relaxation den. This area is furnished with leather massage chairs with red light scalp therapy that guests can use before their appointment.
The hair-washing area has digital “aquatic art” projected onto the walls to resemble an aquarium. This is my favourite part of the entire salon, because it’s where a very pampering head massage using a scent of my choice is administered.
The dimmed lights and relaxing vibe made me doze off quickly – allowing me a snooze that I sorely needed.

When my hairstyling session was completed, I could instantly indulge in selfies – that’s what most people wants to do, right? It was easy to capture a pretty shot thanks to the gorgeous backdrops available in the salon.
And if you’re thinking that it must cost a bomb to enjoy this exclusive experience – nah-uh. Prices are actually quite reasonable, with a starting price of SGD199 for a haircut and a hair service.
