When we talk about facial cleansing brushes, the FOREO LUNA 2 is definitely one of the most popular ones that come to mind. Having garnered a cult following, the online reviews that we’ve been seeing about this silicone face brush have been overwhelmingly good.
These great responses make us wonder if the LUNA 2, which is touted as a holy grail by so many beauty enthusiasts, really live up to its hype when we put it to the test. So here we are, doing what Daily Vanity is best known for – giving the product a shot to give our genuine review.
LUNA 2: What is it?
Unlike regular facial cleansing brushes out there, the LUNA 2 is more than just a device for face cleansing; it is also a massager that offers a spa-like experience to your skincare routine.
The device has a brush that’s optimised for your skin type and provides T-Sonic pulsations with 12 adjustable intensities so you can customise your cleansing experience according to your needs and preferences.
Note that there are different variants designed for different skin types that you can choose from accordingly.
FOREO LUNA 2 review: How to use it?
First, dampen your face and apply your favourite cleanser. Then, wet the LUNA 2 and turn it on. You can adjust the intensity of the pulsations by pressing the “+” or “-” buttons.
Next, gently glide the brush in circular motions over your face for one minute. We will recommend that you stay in areas that suffer from clogged pores for a longer time. Rinse and dry your face, then apply skincare products if you wish to.
Then, activate the Anti-Ageing Mode of the device. Press its anti-ageing surface (reverse side) onto wrinkle-prone areas for one minute.
FOREO LUNA 2 review: What do we think of it?
I have used a few different facial cleansing brushes before the LUNA 2, and there are two things that I often dislike about them: first, the bristles can feel a little harsh on skin and I experience some redness after using the device consecutively for a few days; and second, it’s impossible to dry it thoroughly, so it makes it difficult to maintain its hygiene.
This is why my first impression of the LUNA 2 was a good one. Made with waterproof silicone, it was a breeze to maintain it. After using, all I need to do is to rinse it under water and then dry off with a clean towel.
The touch-points on the silicone face brush also feels more comfortable on the skin. It also helps that the intensity of the pulsations is highly customisable (12 settings in all!) so I could adjust accordingly. I typically use a higher intensity on areas that require a bit more “scrubbing”, like my T-zone.
The unique design of the LUNA 2 also features different-shaped touch points on two sides of the device: use the front for regular, precise cleansing, and the broader touch-points on the reverse side as a massager for anti-ageing benefits.
I find that cleansing experience comfortable and pampering, and love the stimulation the device was able to give to my skin.
As a massager, I like to use the device around my facial contours, between my brows, and along my laugh lines as an anti-ageing routine.
But of course, the most important thing we’re looking out for is the results. And I’m happy to report that I felt and saw visible improvements.
First, my skin felt cleaner and smoother after using the LUNA 2. Unlike other cleansing devices, I found it gentle on my skin, so my skin didn’t feel “sore” or looked red after the routine. My pores appeared more refined and clogged pores felt less rough.
Interestingly, my facial contours also felt firmer and more lifted, thanks to the massaging effect of the LUNA 2, which improved microcirculation around my face.
The shape and size of the silicone facial brush are also compact and it comes with a nice velvet pouch that I could keep it in – making easy to maintain and very convenient to travel around with.
Charging is done using a USB, which is probably the most convenient method I can think of. And here’s what I’m very impressed with: each full charge gives me 450 uses, which is a lot! These attributes make it the perfect fuss-free travel companion.
I find myself reaching out for the device regularly, making it part of my regular skincare routine, and I will definitely encourage anyone who’s looking for a good facial cleansing brush to check the LUNA 2 out. I will recommend this for those looking to upgrade their skincare routine without adding on too much fuss to what they usually do.
The LUNA 2 retails at SGD319 and is available at the Foreo website, Sephora, and Zalora (there are discounts on Zalora, while stocks last!) It isn’t very much more expensive compared to other facial cleansing brushes out there but is definitely a worthwhile investment. After all, you’re not required to purchase any brush heads for changing, and it has a 10-year quality guarantee.
There are four variants in all, for combination skin, normal skin, oily skin, and sensitive skin. The one that I used is designed for normal skin.
