Hoyu Promaster 3-Step Treatment: The process
The Hoyu Promaster 3-Step Treatment was specially developed for professional hairstylists to care for their customers’ coloured hair. The treatment helps restore shine to dull and listless hair while it strengthens hair that’s been damaged by repeated colouring.
When you’re all settled down at the salon, your consultant will assess your current hair condition and recommend one of the four ranges in Hoyu’s Promaster Color Care, which will be used in the treatment.
Before the treatment, your hairdresser will give your hair a deep cleanse with a shampoo from one of the product ranges. The first step, known as Buffer Care, uses a special treatment cream that gently brings the pH level in your hair from alkaline to mildly acidic. Just like your skin, your hair’s natural pH is somewhat acidic, around 4.5 to 5.5, so the first step restores your tresses to a healthier state, reducing damage and colour fading.
After which, another treatment cream will be applied to the lengths of your hair – this step is known as Inside Care. Frequent hair colouring can cause a loss of melanin in your hair shaft, which is why this step fills in these gaps to strengthen the hair structure and enhance colouring results. Plant-derived ingredients such as mango seed butter and avocado oil coat every strand in moisture, leaving your hair smooth and conditioned.
Finally, a hair mask from the same haircare range will be used to lock in the moisture and round off your treatment. It protects the surface of your hair and enhances the durability of your hair cuticles, so your hair will feel softer and more uniform.

Every four to six months, I’ll use a DIY box hair dye to cover my grey roots. Having done this for years as well as using a curling iron every other day, my hair has started to become drier. I colour my hair about twice a year, during the festive period or before travelling. I like to switch my look and hair colour is one of the fastest ways to do so. A year ago, I bleached my hair, and the lightened base made it even easier for me to try new colours.
