Multi-masking is one of the most popular skincare trends that has been proven to work. In multi-masking, different masks are used on different parts of your face, based on the concept that every part has its own needs and concerns, and should be treated differently.

One of the greatest advocates of this skincare method is Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab. Renaza is known for using the best technology in their services, while delivering personalised service by an experienced team. I tried out the Vita Aqua Glow Facial, which uses pure hyaluronic acid and the multi-masking technique, to find out if it really works.

Multi-masking in a facial treatment

This was the first time I had heard of a facial spa that does multi-masking for their clients. Usually, facial aestheticians would apply just one type of mask all over the face. At Renaza, I was treated to three different masks on my face at the same time.

It may sound overwhelming when you first hear it, but it’s actually a very targeted, personalised, and more effective way of treating skin. For example, an all over hydration face mask might be beneficial for the dry areas on your skin, but it may not be so for the oilier areas. With this multi-masking element, your mask can be customised depending on what your skin needs at that point in time.

The masks at Renaza contain active ingredients such as clay, mud, aloe vera, green tea, multi-vitamins, collagen, and many more. Their masks treat skin concerns such as:

  • Ageing/Sagging skin
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Oily/Congested skin
  • Pustula/Acneic skin
  • Dry/Dehydrated skin
  • Dull skin
  • Pigmentation
  • Sensitive and temperamental skin
  • Blemish-prone skin with visible pores

Renaza facial review: Trying the Vita Aqua Glow Facial

The aesthetician started the session by guiding me through calm breathing therapy using lavender essential oils. Next, she gently exfoliated my skin with a Sonic Peel.

On right: The dead skin cells from the exfoliation. The metal plate was not sharp, and it feels comfortable on my skin.

This unique device works with water to exfoliate the skin more gently compared to traditional methods of exfoliation. The aesthetician explains that this method helps hydrate skin during exfoliation so skin will not be left feeling irritated and dry. My aesthetician proceeded to do some extractions before calming my skin down with toner and a pampering face massage.

Next came the exciting part – multi-masking! My aesthetician chose three masks for me: a whitening mask for my forehead and chin area to lighten my acne scars, an oil-control mask for my nose, and an aloe vera mask to hydrate my cheeks.

Left: Applying the acne mask on my nose. | Right: Applying the whitening mask on my chin/jaw area and my forehead.

Applying the hydrating mask everywhere else on my face

After 20 minutes, the aesthetician removed my mask, and proceeded on to apply low molecular nano-hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is known to hydrate the skin. However, it usually can’t penetrate through the skin due to its large molecular size. At Renaza, they use a low molecular nano-hyaluronic acid, which basically means its molecules are made small enough to penetrate into the skin.

The aesthetician used the same device with a different function for a transdermal delivery of the hyaluronic acid preparation to permeate into deeper layers of my skin. In addition, there was also a red LED light on the device that she switched on to promote collagen regeneration and help repair surrounding tissues.

Overall thoughts

Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab was comfortable, clean and relaxing. My aesthetician was great as she explained to me what each step does to my skin. The pain from the extraction was manageable, especially since my aesthetician told me the areas where it might hurt a little more because of stubborn whiteheads and blackheads. I also liked that the facial came with a facial and shoulder massage to help me relax.

With my customised mask

However, the highlight of the entire facial for me, has to be the multi-masking element. I think it is pure genius because usually only ONE mask is applied all over our face, and while it may work for one area of the face, it might do nothing much for another.

With this multi-masking method, you get the best out of your facial by ensuring that a specific skin concern at a particular part of your face is being treated. Renaza is the only facial I’ve been to that offers this.

While you can certainly do multi-masking at home, unless you’re a skin professional yourself, you may not exactly know what your skin needs. You may end up using the wrong masks, making the regime less effective.

My skin felt and looked plumper and more radiant after the facial. It felt more hydrated as well since I’ve been having dry skin for the past week before this facial. My skin felt smooth to the touch too, all thanks to the sonic peel.

The Vita Aqua Glow Facial is originally priced at SGD280, but specially for Daily Vanity readers, you can enjoy it at SGD68.
