Even the most conscientious sunscreen wearer may find regular sunscreen too icky to be used around the eye area because its texture may feel too thick or too greasy. And this is why the eye area is one of the most commonly neglected areas when it comes to sun care.

Most skincare junkies would also know that the eye area is very susceptible to signs of ageing and UV rays are the #1 culprit for causing them to appear. This means that our most vulnerable area is the least protected, which obviously sounds like trouble.

Supergoop Bright Eyed Review2

This is why we’re so excited to hear that Supergoop! has launched an eye cream with SPF. While eye creams with SPF aren’t exactly new, the new Supergoop! Bright-Eyed eye cream is right at the top of the selections when it comes to highest level of protection offered – at SPF40.

So why can’t other eye creams give us more SPF?

Typically, the higher the SPF, the thicker and greasier the formula would be. This is why it’s difficult to create an eye cream that doesn’t just offer high sun protection but also has a lightweight texture that feels comfortable around the eye area. This means that there has to be a breakthrough in formulation in order for a lightweight eye cream with high SPF to be made possible.

Supergoop! Bright-Eyed: Everything you need to know about it

Supergoop Bright Eyed Review3

Supergoop! is a skincare brand that is 100% dedicated to sun care, and besides this new eye cream, they have previously launched other innovative sun care products such as eyeshadows with SPF, lip balm with SPF, setting powder with SPF, and more. You can view more of Supergoop!’s products here.

As for the new Bright-Eyed eye cream, on top of providing sun protection, the 100% mineral suncreen contains a blend of probiotics, pomegranate, and caffeine to help brighten and reduce the appearance of dark eye circles.

Supergoop! Bright-Eyed review: How does it feel?

Supergoop! Bright-Eyed comes in a packaging that looks like a mini Supergoop! ZincScreen, with a cap and a pump to dispense the product.

I like products with pumps because they help make sure the rest of the product remain uncontaminated during the application process. It is also less messy for travelling.

The product has a tint that helps to brighten up the eye area; take note that its coverage isn’t high enough for concealing, so you’ll still need your concealer to layer on top of it. The good thing is that it serves as a good primer for concealer and doesn’t leave an unsightly white cast.

I like that the product is absolutely lightweight – lighter than my regular liquid foundation, which I would apply on my eye area – and easy to glide on.

The product doesn’t interfere with makeup, so you can easily apply any eye makeup on top of it. On days you’re not wearing heavy eye makeup, it can also sit nicely on top of your foundation if you need to reapply sunscreen on the area.

So will I keep using it? I think the answer is undoubtedly, yes. This will be what I’ll continue to reach out for as a daytime eye cream, and I’ll use an antioxidant-rich eye cream at night for an all-rounded care for my eye area.

Supergoop! Bright-Eyed retails at SGD55 and is available at Sephora.
