You already know that moisturisers are an important part of your skincare routine – so do we.

The Daily Vanity team was introduced to a new brand, The Moisturizers Co., which has a niche in efficacy moisturisers, promising the highest quality and efficacy. Just think of them as the Porsche among moisturisers. All their products are also free from parabens and cruelty-free.

Are efficacy moisturisers really better than regular moisturisers?

The Moisturizers Co. has launched three GMP-certified moisturisers that are suited for different skin concerns. Oh, and if you’re wondering what it means to be GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified, it means that the products have been endorsed by the authority to have met quality standards.

We asked three women with different skin concerns in the Daily Vanity team to try the products from The Moisturizers Co. for a week, and they shared what they feel.

1. Brightening Moisturizing Cream with Arbutin and Vitamins (S$40)

What is it: The star of the range and the bestseller, this has received many positive reviews and repeat purchases since its launch in 2016. This serum-infused moisturiser is enriched with skin-brightening ingredients such as arbutin, vitamins A, C, and E, and are suitable for normal, dry, and sun-damaged skin.

How is it: Tiara tried this moisturiser and says that while it has a thick consistency, it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all. “It absorbs into my skin quickly and feels luxurious. I love how soothing the scent is, especially when it’s applied at night.”

“Compared to regular moisturisers that typically only help sustain hydration level of skin, I find that I wake up to skin that’s not just moisturised, but also more radiant,” she says.

2. Cell Regenerate Gel Cream with Mulberry and Squalane (S$40)

What is it: An anti-ageing cream made with black mulberry extracts, which is known for its content of resveratrol, a potent antioxidant, this moisturiser is able to protect skin from free radical damage. It also contains squalane and Coenzyme Q10 to encourage skin repair, moisture retention, and prevent the loss of elastin. The moisturiser also promises to renew skin cells and increases collagen production.

How is it: Kristen, who is in her 30s and has combination skin, finds this moisturiser a right fit for her. “I am concerned with first signs of ageing, and appreciate a moisturiser that has anti-ageing benefits so don’t have to add too many products to my routine.”

“My skin feels firmer and bouncier since using the product,” she says. “I sometimes measure my skin’s hydration level with an analyzer because of work, and used to get 30% reading. Recently, it read close to 50% – a clear sign that my skin is more moisturised than before.”

3. Ultra Pore Refiner Anti-Blemish Night Cream with Niacinamide (S$40)

What is it: A milky gel moisturiser, this contains vitamin B3 and is effective in oil control and preventing the appearance of enlarged pores. The product is also formulated with a powerful blend of witch hazel and AHA (0.5%) for sebum control, blemish prevention, and pore management. Ceramide is also one of the key ingredients, making it a great moisturiser for those with oily skin.

How is it: Mandy, who has combination-oily skin and is concerned about enlarged pores places importance on the moisturising step. “My night moisturisers are even more important to me than my day ones, because I sleep in an air-conditioned room,” she says.

Mandy likes the non-greasy, gel texture of the moisturiser, which makes application smooth and easy. “I didn’t feel like I was tugging on my skin at all, which may happen with some thicker night creams. The soothing scent also makes it a bed-time treat for me,” she adds.

Are efficacy moisturisers worth a try?

All three women were impressed by the quality of the moisturisers and how they seem to deliver what they’ve promised. Conclusion?
