Ever wondered how your favourite celebrities and influencers have such naturally flattering hairstyles? As it turns out, the key to an amazing haircut might just be an often-overlooked part of your hair – your baby hairs!

In just two simple steps, you can elevate your haircut to slim your face and subtly conceal any areas with noticeable thinning hair.

This helps your hairstyle look more youthful and casual, with wispy strands effortlessly framing your face.

Separate Your Baby Hairs

If the sides of your hairline are curved inwards, similar to a widow’s peak, this trick can help you hide areas with thinner hair.

First of all, separate your hair by pinning the bulk of your bangs up, making sure you only trim the thinnest layer of your hair to avoid unfortunate accidents.

Then, take a flat comb and gently tug at the thinner strands of hair until your baby hair becomes visible. Carefully loosen your baby hairs until they frame your face, and go over them multiple times to make sure you don’t miss any strands!

Trim Along Your Brows

Next, angle your scissors diagonally towards your ears in order to trim your baby hairs.

Start trimming from the middle of your forehead and cut downwards until you reach your ears.

To get a sense of the correct angle, the final product should leave your baby hairs with a gentle curve, following the upper edge of your brows. This helps to create the illusion of a narrower and slimmer face.

Repeat the steps on the other side to make your baby hairs symmetrical, curving outwards towards your other ear!

This trim looks particularly good when your hair is tied into a bun or a ponytail, as you won’t need to worry about accidentally exposing any spots with thinning hair. Instead, you’ll get trendy wispy bangs that frame your face lightly for a naturally stunning look!

Trim Near The Ears

Another way to slim your face is to use the baby hair near your ears. These baby hairs will also be visible when your hair is tied up, and can lend you a more casual and relaxed look when styled correctly.

Firstly, untuck the baby hair from behind your ears and twist the strands together slightly in order to gather them. Then, cut diagonally once again, ensuring that the final length ends parallel to the corners of your mouth.

For the final touch, you can clip and style your baby hairs to angle them properly so that they curve inwards and frame your face neatly.

Sounds easy enough, right? Try pairing both of these techniques together to give the illusion of more voluminous hair while slimming down your face for a trendy and flattering hairstyle!
