But as we are slowly easing into the “new normal”, businesses are also gradually picking up and we noticed a number of new beauty stores and counters that are opening their doors in the last couple of months!
From skincare and makeup to perfumery, luxury brands to local names, these are the eight new beauty stores and counters to check out this month and treat yourself to something nice as a reward for surviving the first half of 2020. Most importantly, they each offer unique retail experiences that you can’t get from online shopping, so gear up your masks and hand sanitisers, and make your way to these stores!
Chantecaille
New York-based French luxury beauty brand Chantecaille recently unveiled its brand new flagship boutique at TANGS Orchard. Featuring a soft, clean white interior with light oak finishing, the new retail space embodies the brand’s modern and natural approach to beauty.
Sit down for an intimate consultation with the beauty advisor at the elegant consultation area or check out the region’s crowd favourites on the boutique’s bestsellers wall. The store also has a handful of beautiful wildlife portraits in black and white on display at its philanthropy wall, all of which symbolise the causes that the brand is currently supporting.
Over here, you can find beauty sets that are exclusively available at TANGS as well as the brand’s latest offering, the John Derian x Chantecaille Rose de Mai Harvest Set (S$545). The exclusive packaging design by American artist John Derian celebrates the treasured 100-petal-rose that’s well-loved by the luxury beauty brand.
In the special-edition set, you’ll get the Chantecaille Pure Rosewater, Chantecaille Rose de Mai Face Oil as well as a John Derian x Chantecaille Rose de Mai Harvest Tray, perfect for holding trinkets and delicate jewellery. The collaborative collection also includes a Lip Chic in Rose de Mai shade – it’s a lipstick-gloss hybrid that’s enriched with hyaluronic acid for juicy, hydrated lips without sacrificing colour payoff.
Soon, you’ll also be able to enjoy the boutique’s private facial cabin area – the first for Chantecaille in Southeast Asia – which will be offering a suite of signature facial treatments such as the Gold Energizing Facial and Bio Lifting Facial.

The Body Shop
From pioneering fair trade in beauty (the brand claims that 95% of its product formulas currently contain community trade ingredients) to trailblazing the in-store recycling program (founder Dame Anita Roddick introduced a recycle-and-refill scheme back in 1993), The Body Shop is known for its fiery activist spirit so it’s not surprising that its ION Orchard store has been transformed into an interactive ‘activist’ workshop where you can learn more about the brand’s ongoing sustainability and community trade efforts.
Recently renovated to a new, modern look, the store is fitted with sustainable fixtures sourced from different parts of the world such as wood, zinc, steel, and scaffolding planks – all of which are either reclaimed, recycled or recyclable in future. The newly refurbished outlet even uses up-cycled storage crates that were previously owned by a British car seat manufacturer!
Fans of the brand’s iconic Body Butter will also love the redecorated store, as it now has a Body Butter Tower that proudly displays the cult favourite in all its variants. The Body Shop’s regular Return. Recycle. Repeat program is available at the store too, where clean, dry empties from The Body Shop will be collected and recycled by the brand’s local partner in Singapore, SembCorp.
On top of that, the store now also has a water station parked by the entrance so you can just fill up your water bottle when you’re shopping around to keep hydrated!

Gucci Beauty
The Italian luxury fashion house has been making waves in the recent years with its beauty line – just last month, Daily Vanity covered the highly anticipated arrival of Gucci Beauty’s face and eye makeup collection. You can check out the new launch at the brand’s all-new counter decked out in Gucci’s signature vintage aesthetic that’s nestled within TANGS Orchard.

Burberry Beauty
Burberry, which has been taking a new direction under the stewardship of designer Riccardo Tisci, the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, is now gradually relaunching its line of beauty products.
The 160-year-old brand’s beauty counters are getting a revamp too, and the one situated within Bugis Junction’s BHG is now sporting a fresh new concept envisioned by Tisci and is the first in Southeast Asia to conceive his new design!
Dressed in an ‘archive beige’ colour palette accented with hues of gold, the new counter design features geometrical fixtures that are made with multi-textured materials meticulously placed and stacked with precision and symmetry.
Come by the new store and shop the latest makeup and fragrance offerings, including the Burberry Kisses Lip Lacquer (S$48), the brand’s first liquid lipstick that delivers a comfortable glossy finish in a hydrating gel-like texture.

Maison 21G
The brand’s new maison de parfum in ION Orchard
Parisian haute perfumery brand Maison 21G is adding two new outlets to join its one-year-old flagship store in Duxton. Apart from a Maison 21G counter in BHG Bugis Junction which offers perfume miniature roll-ons, solid perfumes as well as personalised perfume creation, the brand recently opened the doors of its boutique in ION Orchard.
Alongside the brand’s signature perfume customisation service, the standalone boutique also has a dedicated space to host small, intimate workshops – prices start at S$120 per person. Additionally, the store also features a breakthrough blending technology called La Source, which you can peruse to mix your very own eau de parfum in just 30 seconds – how convenient!

Clarins
Time-strapped beauty lovers will love the new French beauty brand’s first-ever kiosk concept that’s parked right inside NEX in Serangoon. Don’t let the small store space fool you, the brand’s fourth standalone store in the heartlands may not be as big as most of its full-fledged boutiques but it still carries the full Clarins product range, including the popular Double Serum, Clarins’ hero product.
At the kiosk, you’ll also find the boutique-exclusive Scented Collection, where a series of body and home products are created with botanicals to invigorate the senses. Choose from three different scents: soothing Sweet Neroli, energising Tonic Citrus, and fresh Wild Fig.

Re:erth
Homegrown skincare brand RE:ERTH now has a new home in TANGS Orchard. Previously only available online, its first-ever flagship retail boutique, which opened just last month, has all the elements that are true to the brand: minimalist design with sustainability, nature, and mindfulness in mind.
The enclave heavily features organic shapes and lines inspired by Japanese white turmeric leaves, an ingredient that’s proprietary and exclusive to the brand, and is decorated with natural wood finishing, sleek marble, and cool brass for a zen-like sanctuary in the heart of the city. There’s even a seating area fitted with a device-charging station so that customers can take a break and recharge while people-watching.
You can now come on down to the store to chat with the brand’s retail ambassadors who are able to determine your skin concerns on the spot and recommend products to kick-start your mochi-skin journey with RE:ERTH. On top of that, there’s also a RE:ERTH Sustainability Corner, which is the result of the brand’s long-term recycling partnership with Environmental Solutions (Asia).
Under the brand’s Sustainability Program, customers can bring in any skincare empties, drop them off at RE:ERTH, and earn points that are fully redeemable on its range of products online. The empty packaging that are dropped off will be fully recycled and converted to non-fossil derived fuel via Environmental Solutions’ advanced technology.
