When you see all makeup as just pigments and textures you can play around with, you’ll start to get creative with what you have. This is exactly what happened to aspiring makeup artist who goes by @boujiebarb on Instagram. She posted a selfie of her using a highlighter that is so bright it can blind any hater.
Followers thought that she was using Fenty Beauty’s star product Trophy Wife, but it really wasn’t. She was, in fact, using a USD1 eyeshadow as a highlighter. That’s a huge win, in our books!
@boujiebarb was using the L.A. Colors Shimmering Loose Eyeshadow in the shade Sunshine.
This product, unfortunately, is not available in Singapore.
Thankfully, other social media users have seen shared their other wonderful finds and many of them talked about Miss A, an online store that stocks USD1 products. These three highlighters stood out:
1. Amuse Highlighter Sticks
These sticks remind us of Matchstix. They come in six shades: three highlighters and bronzers, and have been said by reviewers to flatter dark skin tones very well.
2. AOA Wonder Baked Highlighter
These are said to be vegan and has an intense colour payoff. Reviewers said that they are easy to blend and offer an obvious sheen.
3. Glitz and Glam Eyeshadow Pigment
Just like the L.A. Colors product, this is a sparkling eyeshadow loose pigment that will work well as a highlighter too. Several colours are available but our eyes are on #34 (featured above), which looks like a pretty coral shade that will flatter most skin tones.
