We’ve talked about customisable beauty products, and how you can pick and choose what works best for your skin. Well, guess what? There is actually a technology that can break down what your skin exactly needs based on your DNA!

We spoke to Omar Fogliadini, Chief Innovation Officer at Suisse Life Science SA, and Alice Ng, Director for Group Procurement and Training of Bella Skin Care to find out more about this one-of-a-kind personalised skincare system.

What is iDDNA®?

iDDNA® is the world’s most personalised skincare system that breaks down all of your skin needs to a T to make sure that you provide your skin with the necessary nutrients, vitamins, sun protection that it needs to slow down the process of ageing.

Just like how you can find out what’s health issues you have, by analysing your DNA, iDDNA® shows what’s lacking in your system in terms of skincare wellness. According to Fogliadini, iDDNA® goes beyond skincare products and treatments, it also lets you know how much water you need to drink, how much sunscreen you need, and how long you have before you need to reapply your sunscreen if you’re out in the sun for a long period of time.

If you think this skincare treatment only involves customised skincare products, Ng mentioned that customers will also receive necessary facial treatments they need to make the iDDNA® treatments effective at Bella Skin Care.

They have an app!

Another cool thing about iDDNA® is that there’s an App to remind users the vitamins they need, how much sunscreen you need to apply, and how long you’re advised to be under the sun. According to Fogliadini, the app has an geo-locator that tracks where in the world you’re at and adjusts your skin needs according to that particular country or climate.

For example, if you’re currently in Singapore, and you’re traveling to London the next day, the app will adjust according to the conditions in London when you’re there. Based on your DNA results, it will calculate what your skin needs based on London’s weather.

“They’ll also let users know what foods should be taken at what time of the day to get maximum benefits,” said Fogliadini. This goes to show how personalised this skincare treatment system is.

How it works

Firstly, the customer will have to provide her DNA.

“The process to retrieve a customer’s DNA is exactly like what you see in CSI!” said Fogliadini. But don’t worry, it is painless and non-invasive.

Customers will have to take a cotton swab and rub it on the insides of their cheek . Their DNA will then be sent for processing and each customer will be given a unique ID. Customers will also be asked questions regarding their lifestyle. Once your DNA has been processed, your personalised skincare system will be delivered to you. Nobody else in the world will have the same skincare system as you because it’s based on your DNA. The ingredients in the skincare systems are free from chemical preservatives and are Halal-compliant.
