After writing about beauty for so long, we realise there’s really just one trick you need to do to start sorting out all your beauty issues.

Hydration. Yes, this is it.

Given that our body is made up of 70% water, it is probably not surprising that adequate hydration is important to sustaining a lot of important bodily functions, as well as the appearance and performance of our hair, skin, and nails. Dehydration can be attributed to fine lines, dull complexion, brittle nails and hair.

Now that we know one of the major factors that can help resolve our beauty woes, here are recommendations to help kick off your hydration regime.

1. For your face

Try: Bioderma Hydrabio Serum (SGD52.90). This may be an intensely hydrating serum, but you’ll be surprised by its lightweight texture. Containing a high level of hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and other hydration-boosting ingredients, this product helps lock in moisture, distribute water across different layers of skin, and strengthen your skin’s barrier.

2. For your body

Try: L’Occitane Almond Refining Concentrate (SGD94). The Almond body care collection by L’Occitane isn’t new to the brand, but they have introduced a new active ingredient to the products: the Pressed Almond Extract. This patented ingredient can be found in the new Almond Refining Concentrate, and promises to work together with almond oil to achieve firming and moisturising effect. Simply massage a generous amount of it onto clean skin using an upwards movement, and you’ll find your skin feel firmer and softer over time. This product will be available at all L’Occitane boutiques from May 2017.

3. For your hair

Try: Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo (SGD16.90). Hask has worked with many Hollywood films (including La La Land and Suicide Squad), and know what is needed to help achieve beautiful, glossy hair. The brand features ingredients sourced from all over the world and are free of sulfates, parabens, and artificial colours. The Monoi Coconut oil Nourishing Shampoo contains monoi oil and a blend of Tahitian gardenias and coconut oil. Together, they help to hydrate and strengthen lifeless locks.

Use it together with the Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Conditioner (SGD16.90) and Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Oil (SGD4.90). Hask products are available at these locations.

4. For your hands

Try: Crabtree & Evelyn Overnight Hand Therapy (SGD38). Formulated to provide you with intensive nourishment while you sleep, this hand therapy has a rich formula that contains vitamins and amino acids that help your skin retain moisture. The antioxidant-rich formula also means it provides an anti-ageing benefit to your hands, all while you’re getting your beauty sleep. It is available in six fragrances: Evelyn Rose, Rosewater, Pear & Pink Magnolia, Pomegranate Argan & Grapeseed, Gardeners, and La Source.

5. For your nails

Try: Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab Overnight Nail Serum (SGD19.90). Dry and damaged nails are not a pretty sight, and if you have been keeping up with manicures, which may worsen them, it’s probably time to invest in a nail-loving product. This overnight nail serum is designed for intensive nail repair. It contains moisture and nutrient-rich ingredients to restore cuticle and nail health, by providing intense moisture as you leave it on your nails overnight. It can also be used on top of nail colour. Apply one to two coats to bare nails, then remove and repeat after seven days.
