If you are a fan of the minimalistic and utilitarian style of Japanese lifestyle brand Muji, you’ll be happy to know that the brand will be reducing its prices on 40 per cent of its offerings. This was reported by Japanese financial news site, Nikkei Asian Review.

This means that approximately 2,400 items from Muji will see their prices reduced.

Prices are reported to be reduced by as much as 14 per cent, with its best-selling mattress set to cut its price from 35,000 yen (SGD420) to 29,000 yen (SGD348).

The reduction in prices is part of the company’s process of transferring its cost savings from reduced procurement costs to its customers.

The price markdown will happen in January, but it was not indicated if it will be applicable to only Muji’s stores in Japan, or also to its other stores in Europe, North America, and Asia.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the customers in Singapore will get the enjoy the reduced prices. After all, Singapore has been its best-performing market in Southeast Asia, according to a report by The Straits Times previously.

If not, we know we’ll be making a longer shopping list (say yes to more minimalistic beauty products and organisers for our vanity table!) when we plan our next visit to Japan!
