Resorcinol is a chemical very commonly found in many colouring and bleaching agents, but it’s got some significant negative side effects.
According to the Environmental Working Group, resorcinol is “a skin irritant that is toxic to the immune system and a frequent cause of hair dye allergy.”
In fact, “resorcinol can disrupt thyroid hormone synthesis” as well. This means that in the long term, this could lead to excessive growth of thyroid tissue, leading to hyperthyroidism and goiter, a swelling in the neck.
It’s unclear how big a health concern this is, as the U.S.A. FDA does not have any regulation for the levels of resorcinol found in personal care products, such as hair dyes.

How to apply organic hair colour
The steps of applying an organic hair colour at home is really not very much different from your regular hair dye.
Each box of Naturigin Hair Colour should contain: Colour Cream (A); Activator (B); After Colour Treatment (C); Safety Gloves (D).
Step 1: First put on your safety gloves (D) so that you don’t stain your skin.
Step 2: Start preparing the mixture into the bottle. Empty the Colour Cream (A) tube along with the Activator (B), and remember to shake it well!
Step 3: Apply half of the mixture in the bottle on to your roots by carefully parting your hair and brushing it on near the scalp. Let it work for 20 minutes.
Step 4: Apply the the rest of the mixture on to the rest of your hair to your hair ends, and leave it on for 10 minutes.
Step 5: Add some water to your hair, which will help to make the mixture foam up. Massage your hair and scalp (remember to keep your gloves on!) before rinsing well with lukewarm water.
Step 6: Apply the contents of the After Colour Treatment (C) to your hair and thoroughly work it into your hair and scalp. Massage gently for two minutes before rinsing.
Step 7: You may apply your regular conditioner immediately after colouring.
That’s it! The entire process only takes 30 short minutes, and you’ve saved yourself a trip to the hair salon.
