We’ve all been there. We mess up the corners just as we’re applying our lipstick, then we have to clean it up and risk ruining the whole thing altogether.
This vicious cycle to achieve that perfect application is the main culprit of our morning headaches and leaves some of us looking like the Joker before we even head out of the house.
But as usual, the TikTok community rises to the rescue with another ingenious (and bizarre) beauty hack that promises to give you a perfect lip application.
Originating from none other than Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty and one of the pioneers in the beauty influencer and blogging world, this lipstick hack appeared in her 2018 YouTube video “Testing Weird Beauty Hacks with Mona!”, which she said she originally found from popular channel 5-Minute Crafts.

Fast forward to 2021, a clip of Huda trying out this hack on her sister was reposted by @theanoughceke on TikTok and have garnered over 1.9 million views. Naturally, many other users have also hopped on board to see if it actually worked, most of whom ended up with positive results.

If you want to try out this trick for yourself, all it requires is a cotton bud. Simply place it in between your lips such that the cotton ends are sticking out at the corners of your mouth. Then, grab your favourite lipstick or liquid lip and apply it as per normal. When you remove the cotton bud, it should leave you with a clean and crisp lip.
