Shine bright like a vampire? Here’s why the “vampire skin” trend has taken over TikTok

TikTok seems to come up with a new skin trend every week. There’s the recent “laminated skin” which encourages us to embrace our natural sweat and sebum, and “jello skin” which promotes a healthy lifestyle and solid skincare routine for clear and supple skin.

Now, get ready for what seems like the strangest skin trend of them all. It’s time to welcome “vampire skin”.

When you think of vampires, a pale ghostly creature may come to mind, but this skin trend has nothing to do with your typical masters of the night.

Instead, we’re trying to achieve the same look as the vampires from our favourite book and film franchise, Twilight.

For those of you who’ve never heard of Twilight (seriously, where the hell have you been, loca?), the vampires in that world sparkle in the sun instead of bursting into flames like the classic vampires.

In light of Halloween, TikTok user @imonaugust tried to replicate this glittery skin. The result is an ethereal look with a gorgeous glow that you might be able to pull off all year long. After his video went viral, everyone has been dying to try this look out for themselves.

Here’s how you can cop the otherworldly glow.

How to get “vampire skin”

Step 1: Use a hydrating primer as your base

We need this primer to give you that natural sheen that will add to your glow, coupled with glitter.

Step 2: Mix your foundation with glitter

Mix your foundation with a cream glitter formula. You can pour the two products onto a plate or the back of your hand and mix them.

Step 3: Apply the mixture on your skin

Press this mixture on your skin and apply it to your face like regular foundation. It doesn’t matter if you use a makeup sponge, brush, or your fingers.

Step 4: Dust on any glitter powder

If you want to have an extra glittery look, you can dust on any pressed or loose glitter you have. You can even use glitter eyeshadow and dab it on the high points of your face, such as your nose bridge, cheekbones, and cupid’s bow.

Step 5: Apply body glitter

Lastly, you can use a body glitter and sweep it over your arms, neckline, and even your legs for a full-body shimmer.
