Every woman in this world is beautiful in her own way. She is the centre of the world for her parents, her husband, her kids, her dog, her cat, etc. She is independent and perfect in every sense. Therefore, it is completely her choice to wear make up and do herself up. It might be to cover imperfections or simply about feeling pretty, not for anyone else, but herself.
A vanity room or even a small makeup corner comes in handy when you don’t look have to search for that one lipstick for 10 minutes. It’s also so much better than leaning over the sink, closer to the mirror to put that absolutely straight eye liner, while ensuring your dress doesn’t get water stains. We’d go to the lengths of saying, every woman deserves a vanity area.
You can have yourself a quick vanity room by simply putting together a few pieces together. Here are seven things you need to create a vanity room that would help you look good, and feel even better.
1. Dressing table
This is a no brainer. You need a dressing table, preferably with a lot of storage space, because you can never have too many drawers to hide your cosmetics. Choose a table with a good height, that you can use both when sitting or standing.
Depending on the space in your room, you can choose between a chair with backrest, and/or arm rest, or simply a stool. It also depends on how long you usually take to groom your already-beautiful self. Get a chair that suits your height and table height perfectly. Once you’re seated, the table should be at a level just below your chest.
While a lot of dressing tables have mirrors attached to them, it is up to you to decide whether you want to get just that, or maybe a full length mirror to check yourself out shamelessly once you’re all ready to paint the town red. You might also want to buy a half wall mirror and table separately if you have a particular look in mind.
If you’re going to be spending some time in your vanity room, we’ll recommend investing in a nice soft rug. It brings the room together, or if you have a small area in the bedroom, it helps distinguish that area. Oh, also, it just feels cosy and comfy to have a rug around.
If space permits, invest in a sleek, tall shelf to complement your table. Store bigger boxes of makeup products or brushes, or even purses or scarves here. This shelf would make your essentials accessible to you so you don’t have to hunt for them.
You can have all of the above, but if you don’t have boxes to organise your makeup and accessories in, your vanity room will appear messy and it will not solve the problem of taking 10 minutes to find a lipstick. Use these boxes to store and organise all lipsticks, nail paints, brushes, eye pencils, liners, mascaras, cotton balls – pretty much everything! Don’t forget to label them!
We’re sure everyone have had that one embarrassing outing when they stepped out of the house thinking their makeup is on point… until they caught a glimpse of themselves outdoors, and notice their foundation looks orange and their contouring, patchy. We can’t stressed enough how important it is to have perfect lighting while getting ready. And while we’re a big fan of yellow lights, for vanity rooms, white light is definitely a better option.
Once you have these mighty seven, all you need to do is to add a plant, some photo frames on the wall, a couple of scented candles, some music, and a bottle of wine, and you’ll have yourself your very own vanity room. Soon, this will become your favourite place in the entire home. Wine certainly helps with that.
