When I tried the Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush (S$33), which Fenty Beauty launched  in April, I was an immediate fan. It was launched during the Circuit Breaker and since I was working from home, a cream blush that delivers a natural-looking glow was exactly what I needed to perk myself up for the back-to-back video calls I’ve been having.

And I know many of you felt the same. When I shared it as one of my Picks of the Month during a live-streaming session with Daily Vanity‘s Instagram and Facebook followers, viewers who were online with us were really excited about it.

It is no wonder these blushers flew off the (virtual) shelves and if you check out Sephora.sg, you’d notice that all but two shades are currently out of stock (at least at the time of writing).

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick Review Full Collection 1

Just as I thought my (work-from-home makeup) life is now complete, Fenty Beauty announced they will be launching the Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick on 11 June. Daily Vanity had the privilege of previewing the collection. I was blown away once again the first time I tried it.

Before you think that I’m just a Fenty fan girl raving about every single product that the brand releases – it’s not true. I didn’t actually love the super popular Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (although the Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation was more up my alley) and while Fenty Beauty has many amazing products, I never really fell so head over heels over anything.

Anyway, back to what I really want to talk about in this article: the Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick.

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick review: Here are swatches and my genuine thoughts

Like I shared, right from the first time I applied the Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick, the impression had been a good one.

Besides its gorgeous hexagonal casing that’s signature to Fenty Beauty, I really liked how the lipstick felt nourishing and instantly conditioned my lips when I applied it. I later learnt that the formula is infused with pomegranate oil, which is known for its ultra-nourishing benefits.

The comfortable texture soothes and smooths dry lips – even when they’re flaky. In fact, it’s so hydrating, I could even forgo my lip balm on days when  I have this lipstick on.

Next, let’s talk about the exciting part: the colours.

From left to right: Makeout Break, Cookies & Cocoa, Bubblerum, Retro Rose, Glazed, Quartz Candy, Goji Gang, Vamps Who Brunch, $uga Kiss, Tang Thang

There are ten shades in the Slip Shine Sheer Lipstick collection. You’d notice that most of them are nude shades that are super wearable.

The two shades from the collection that won my heart are Tang Thang and Goji Gang.

Tang Thang is a pretty orange that helped brighten my complexion. I’ve always enjoyed orange-toned lipsticks but they can look too over-the-top when worn at home, only seen by those who are having a video conference with you. This makes Tang Thang – a sheer version – a much more wearable option now.

Tang Thang is also going to be great for those who have been wanting to experiment with orange-toned lipsticks but haven’t dared to commit to one.

Goji Gang, on the other hand, is likely to be a crowd-favourite. The MLBB shade adds life to my pale lips and is good for practically any occasion.

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick Review Vamps Who Brunch 1

As a lipstick junkie with a penchant for dramatic colours, I couldn’t resist swatching Vamps Who Brunch, which clearly stood out from the rest of the collection. The shade may look intimidating from the bullet, but its sheer texture actually makes it more wearable than you think.

The best part about the Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Lipstick is that you can build the shade to achieve a more intense look. And among all the shades, I’d say that Vamps Who Brunch is probably the most buildable. Just check out the image above to see how it looks on the lips when you apply just one layer compared to three layers!

What I also love about the Vamps Who Brunch shade is how it can help transform lip looks when you top it on your favourite lipstick. My go-to red lip colour instantly gets a vamp-up when I layer on the Fenty Beauty lipstick.

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick Review Full Collectionk

I’ve been trying out the Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Lipstick collection for about three weeks now and I find myself reaching out for it again and again, even though I haven’t been going out and have been working from home.

Just like the Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush, I find that these lipsticks help to quickly and subtly polish up my overall look so that I can put my best face forward at all my video calls (and selfies on Instagram) without looking like I’m trying too hard.

I also love its super comfortable, lightweight, and nourishing formula – something that I’m sure many will appreciate. Its shiny formula also helps to plump up the appearance of lips, so those of you who want poutier-looking puckers, take note!

The lipstick has definitely made it to my arsenal of beauty products for a quick before-a-call touch-up, together with the Cheeks Out blusher. So, if you notice that I’m looking particularly good at the next video call or live-streaming session you join me at, chances are that I had a little help from really good makeup.

The Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Lipsticks will retail for S$35 and be available at Sephora.sg from 22 June. (Note: launch date has been edited on 17 June 2020 after updates from the brand.)
