Think Hokkaido and many amazing experiences come to mind: their signature ramen, Hokkaido milk, lavender fields, and their iconic Noboribetsu bath, available at the Noboribetsu spring resort – the most famous one in Hokkaido.

This onsen bath is known for its high level of sodium content, which has several skin benefits, including improving eczema and acne. The bath is also said to help boost metabolism, blood circulation, and help relieve rheumatic pains. This is why the Noboribetsu bath makes it among the top attractions for Hokkaido travellers.

Our work schedule may forbid us from making that trip to Hokkaido whenever we’d love to, but if you’ve been thinking of trying out this famous bath, the good news is that you can now find it in Singapore – for a limited period of time.

Yunomori Onsen & Spa Kallang Wave Mall Singapore

To celebrate its first anniversary, Yunomori Onsen & Spa, an authentic Japanese onsen venue in Singapore, has introduced the Noboribetsu bath. From now till the end of June, you’ll be able to enjoy this bath, together with the other variations of baths available at Yunomori, including the Silk Bath (known to moisturise skin), Bubble Bath, and Cold Bath.

We’ve tried the the new Noboribetsu bath for ourselves during the media preview. Don’t be surprised by the colour of the bath – it has a yellow tinge due to its mineral content, but rest assured that it doesn’t have any unpleasant feeling or smell.

The mineral-rich bath is at a comfortable 38degC and leaves us feeling refreshed after it. Our skin also feel smoother after the soak. We felt our heart rate increasing after soaking in the bath for 10 minutes – you might feel it too when you’re there – but it’s just the onsen working to increase blood circulation and metabolism. Of course, at any point, if you feel dizzy – which is normal too –  you should get out of the bath, take a rest at the benches available, and hydrate yourself at the water cooler.

In June, non-members get to enjoy 1-for-1 onsen entry every Monday to Thursday (7pm to 11pm), and 50% off the second 90-minute massage. Members get to enjoy the 1-for-1 offer all day from Monday to Thursday.

The Hokkaido experience is incomplete without other Hokkaido fare. At the dining cafe, you’ll be able to order food items such as the Hokkaido miso ramen, seafood curry rice, Hokkaido milk ice-cream, as well as Hokkaido lavender flavoured tea and soda smoothie. Prices range from SGD6.80 to SGD15.80.

Yunomori Onsen & Spa is located at #02-17/18 Kallang Wave Mall, and is opened from 10am to 11pm daily. Call 6386-4126 or 6385-7985 for appointments and enquiries.
