It seems like The Ordinary is going strong with a brand-new launch.

We’ve got all the details on the latest release from The Ordinary, which hits local shelves in just a few days. The brand is delving back into the world of retinoids, creating a product that’s even more effective than previous launches!

Plus, we’ve got tips on building the perfect skincare regimen, complete with our recommendations from the brand’s arsenal of quality skincare.

Keep reading to find out more.

The New Launch

The Ordinary’s latest release is the Retinal 0.2% Emulsion, their most concentrated retinoid yet!

For the uninitiated, retinal is a stronger version of retinol but less potent than prescription retinoic acid treatments, like tretinoin.

While retinol requires two chemical conversions to become retinoic acid and work miracles on your skin, retinal only requires one conversion!

Retinal helps to prevent signs of ageing, such as fine lines and uneven skin texture. It boosts collagen production for firmer skin, and keeps the skin youthful and hydrated.

It’s also great for keeping your pores clear, eliminating hyperpigmentation and breakouts.

This particular formulation has been proven to reduce the appearance of forehead lines after eight weeks of usage, and even out the skin tone after only two weeks!

It’s also infused with synthetic oat analogues, with oat being a moisturising ingredient to combat any dryness that can occur with strong retinoids. Plus, the emulsion that the retinal is suspended in gives it a lightweight, creamy texture that absorbs easily.

Don’t be surprised when you open up the product for the first time – the serum is actually a bright yellow shade!

Retinoids are naturally yellow in their purest form, hence this product’s unique shade is all thanks to its high concentration. Not to worry – it hasn’t been reported to stain the skin or any fabrics that come into contact with it.

Due to the strength of this product, the brand recommends it only for seasoned retinoid users.

As with all retinoids, this retinal makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so it’s meant exclusively for nighttime use. And, while you’re using the product, make sure you use strong sun protection daily!

Start off by using it once a week at first to build your tolerance, then gradually increase to two or three times a week if you find that your skin can handle the product.

The Ordinary’s Retinal 0.2% Emulsion will retail for S$31 (15ml) at Sephora from 27 March onwards.

Prep, Treat, Seal

Known for their affordable and fuss-free skincare, The Ordinary’s products are perfect for a low-maintenance three-step routine. Here are some of our recommendations, to keep your skin healthy without overcomplicating the process!

Prep

The Ordinary recommends that you first prep your skin with a cleanser to get rid of impurities that build up on your skin, like makeup, dirt, or oil.

Their Squalane Cleanser is a great first step, serving as both a makeup remover and a gentle facial cleanser that leaves your skin soft and moisturised.

Rub it between your palms to transform it from a balm-like texture to a clear oil, which then helps to dissolve the impurities!

The Ordinary’s Squalane Cleanser retails for S$19 (50ml) and S$39 (150ml) at Sephora.

Treat

When it comes to the second step of your skincare routine, you’ll be spoiled for choice with The Ordinary.

They offer a plethora of serums, oils, suspensions, and more, each designed to target specific skin concerns.

If you’re struggling with dry and dull skin, why not try out The Ordinary’s legendary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum?

Starting as one of The Ordinary’s first products and launching them to international success, this iconic serum has recently been reformulated to be better than ever before, with more benefits and an improved texture.

The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 retails for S$20 (30ml) and S$35 (60ml) at Sephora.

Seal

Lastly, lock in all the moisture with a moisturiser! After you’ve applied your previous skincare products, you’ll want to make sure they absorb deeply into your skin for maximum efficacy.

If you have combination to oily skin, you’ll want to get a lightweight gel moisturiser.

The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan is perfect for this purpose, boasting a lighter texture than the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, which has a creamy texture meant for dry skin.

This moisturiser helps to strengthen your skin barrier and provide all-day hydration. Plus, it’s suitable for sensitive skin!

The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan retails for S$27 (100ml) at Sephora.
