TikTok users are always coming up with the latest tips and tricks to level up their beauty routine such as finding the perfect lip shade hack and experimenting with a skin-smoothing hack.
Nowadays, TikTok users are into reducing dark circles under their eyes. They’ve been using an unlikely shade of concealer you might’ve walked directly past when shopping in the beauty aisle.
Instead of going for a skin-coloured concealer, TikTok users are replacing them with shocking white versions!
Their reason? Supposedly, the pale shade brightens the under-eye area a lot better. It not only provides a sculpting and lifting effect, but it also works regardless of your skin tone.
2 ways to this TikTok hack
This viral TikTok hack has two methods you can use to apply white concealer to conceal dark circles.
One method was started by TikTok user @nakitaglowup, whereby you apply the white concealer under your foundation.
Another way was introduced by makeup artist Charlotte Hyatt-Willis and it involves dotting the product over your foundation and blending it with a makeup sponge or brush.
We were curious to see how well this TikTok hack would work with Asian skin tones, so we experimented with the hack on ourselves!
Here’s how the TikTok hack went
Dark circles are a common occurrence due to lack of sleep, hormones, ageing, stress, and genetics.
I have had quite prominent-looking dark circles since I can remember. I usually don’t make an effort to hide them, but I was still interested in seeing how effective this hack would be.
However, the very first thing I had to do was to go out and find myself a white coloured concealer. It took a surprising amount of time, but I got the Sephora Collection Best Skin Ever High Coverage Concealer in shade T01.
For this experiment, I decided to use Charlotte’s method to apply the concealer over the foundation.
I first applied some primer to blur my pores and light foundation to cover up my blemishes and even out my skin tone.
After that, I dotted some of the white concealer under my eyes, making sure to do so lightly to not to apply too much.
Using the tip of my finger, I gently blended the product out, making sure to go over my entire under-eye area so as to cover the dark circles.
The result was shocking to me as the white concealer really did help to brighten up my under-eye area tremendously, making me look more awake.
But I think my eye circles may be too dark because even with the white concealer, I feel like I can still see my dark circles.
My recommendation is to go light on the concealer if you’re layering it over your foundation as the white colour shows easily.
You can use the first method and apply it underneath your foundation, so it will look more natural.
The white concealer can also be used to hide stubborn spots and hyperpigmentation that still show from underneath foundation.
Overall, I’m into this TikTok hack as it really makes me look put together without requiring much effort or time.
