You’ve probably had your eyebrows threaded before, but few of us would consider face threading. The same threading technique is applied – cotton threads are used to pluck fine hair out of their follicles easily and swiftly. Not restricted to just eyebrows, face threading targets facial hair on one’s upper lip, chin, forehead, cheeks, and sideburns. In fact, threading is one of the world’s oldest methods of hair removal.

But is face threading really necessary? Some say that their faces look smoother and brighter after a threading session. There are also claims that makeup applies much more smoothly without the facial fuzz. If you’re thinking of removing unwanted facial hair, threading is a great option, especially for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

We’ve compared five popular face threading salons in Singapore so that you can decide for yourself which one you think is the best:

1. Rimpy Beauty Art

Rimpy may look nondescript, but this threading salon located at Clementi Central is highly raved about in forums and other platforms. Their Indian beauticians are very experienced in the art of threading, so once it’s your turn, you can expect to be in and out of their shop within 10 minutes. Its no-frills service is possibly the cheapest around as well!

Price: SGD15 for a full face threading

What clients say: Those who’ve visited Rimpy Beauty Art praise the salon for being great value-for-money. However, you may be required to wait in line for quite a while since this place appears to be always crowded. One more trade off: Don’t expect too much service-wise – you get what you pay for after all. (Most talked about!)

Outlets: Just one at 447 Clementi Ave 3, a five-minute walk from Clementi MRT station.

Extra: After your threading session, make sure to have a serving of Clementi’s well-known rojak in the opposite block (Block 449)!

2. Sophia Brow House

If you’re looking for a convenient salon to do your face threading, this may be the one. With three locations, including in residential neighbourhoods, there’s less to worry about going to Sophia Brow House makeup-free or leaving the salon with some redness (it’s normal!).

Price: SGD30 for a full face threading

What clients say: Depending on your beautician, the quality of your service will differ. Some customers experienced hard-selling while others enjoyed their salon experience (see reviews on their Facebook page).

Extra: Besides caring for your face, Sophia Brow House also offers body massages for the ultimate treat. (Many other services available!)

3. Rupini’s

Rupini’s is another Indian-owned threading salon with 20+ years of experience under their belt. (Most experienced!) Promising to provide a holistic beauty experience, their salon offers spa-like aromatherapy while you get your face threaded. Who doesn’t like to unwind and de-stress from time to time?

Price: SGD23 for a full face threading

What clients say: Customers enjoy the great value and efficiency of services here, although others complain that some locations are understaffed.

Outlets: Six outlets in Midpoint Orchard, Yishun Central, Tampines, Holland Village, Yio Chu Kang, and Little India. See all of them here.
